This focused pilgrimage is designed for Bhutanese devotees to walk in the footsteps of Lord Buddha and Guru Rinpoche at the most sacred Buddhist sites of Nepal. The journey begins as you fly from Paro to Kathmandu, then travels overland to Lumbini—the birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha. You will return to the Kathmandu Valley to visit ancient stupas and, most importantly, the Asura Cave at Pharping, where Guru Rinpoche meditated and attained enlightenment. This is a concise yet deeply spiritual journey to generate merit and receive blessings at the source of your Vajrayana lineage.

Itinerary
Your journey begins with a flight from Paro International Airport to Kathmandu, Nepal. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. The evening is free for rest. A welcome briefing will be held to discuss the upcoming Yatra and preparations. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Today is dedicated to administrative necessities. Our representative will collect your passports for submission to the Chinese Embassy for the Group Visa processing. In the late afternoon, you will visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal's most sacred Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva . As dusk falls, witness the Bagmati Ganga Arati, a powerful evening ritual performed on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Priests conduct synchronized offerings of fire, incense, and chants, creating a deeply moving spiritual atmosphere that prepares your heart for the pilgrimage ahead . Overnight in Kathmandu.
- Morning: Return to Pashupatinath Temple for early morning ritual darshan at the main temple complex. Visit Guheswori Shakti Peeth, one of the most important Shakti Peeths in the region, revered as a sacred seat of the Divine Mother .
- Afternoon: Travel north of the city to Budhanilkantha Temple, where a majestic stone statue of Lord Vishnu rests on a bed of cosmic serpents. This serene site offers a sense of calm and balance before your journey .
- Evening: Visit Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist stupas in Nepal. From its hilltop location, enjoy panoramic sunset views over the Kathmandu Valley while observing prayer flags and spinning prayer wheels .
Take an early morning scenic Himalayan flight into Lhasa Gonggar Airport. The views of Everest and other peaks are unforgettable. Upon arrival in the "Land of the Gods," you will be met by your Tibetan guide and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa. The most important rule upon arrival is strict rest. oday you will visit the spiritual heart of Tibet, the Jokhang Temple (7th century).
- Significance: Built by King Songtsen Gampo, this temple is the ultimate pilgrimage destination in Tibet. It houses the Jowo Shakyamuni, a statue of Buddha at age 12, believed to have been blessed by the Buddha himself. It is considered the most sacred Buddha statue in Tibet.
- Experience: Witness pilgrims from across the Tibetan plateau performing full-body prostrations in the courtyard. In the afternoon, you will walk the Barkhor Kora, the pilgrim path encircling the Jokhang. Joining the continuous flow of pilgrims chanting mantras and turning prayer wheels is a deeply moving and authentic spiritual experience. Overnight in Lhasa.
In the morning, ascend to the magnificent Potala Palace.
- Significance:Â This iconic structure was the winter residence of the successive Dalai Lamas. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a physical symbol of the union of Tibetan Buddhist governance and spiritual power. You will visit the elaborate chapels and the sacred stupas (tombs) of past Dalai Lamas.
- Afternoon: You will visit Ramoche Temple, an important site for early Buddhist history in Tibet, originally intended to house the Jowo Shakyamuni statue. Overnight in Lhasa.
- Morning: Explore Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world, housing nearly 10,000 monks. It was the complete seat of monastic power and learning.
- Afternoon: Visit Sera Monastery, another of the great "three universities" of the Gelugpa school. Here, you will witness the famous monastic debates in the late afternoon. Monks engage in lively, animated philosophical discussions—a living tradition of Buddhist logic and training that is both intellectually stimulating and visually captivating. Overnight in Lhasa.
Depart Lhasa and drive south, crossing the Kamba La Pass (4,794m) for a breathtaking panoramic view of Yamdrok Lake.
- Why Sacred:Â As one of Tibet's four great holy lakes, Yamdrok-Tso is associated with divine feminine energy (Dakini). Its stunning, turquoise waters are believed to reflect the soul of the land and sustain Tibet's spiritual vitality.
- Continue the drive, crossing the Karo La Pass (5,248m) —the highest point of your pilgrimage, with views of the majestic Nojin Gangtsang glacier. Overnight in the historic town of Gyantse. Overnight in Gyantse.
In Gyantse, visit the unique Pelkor Chode Monastery and its main attraction, the Kumbum Stupa. This immense, multi-storied structure is one of Tibet's most extraordinary monuments, containing 108 chapels and a vast array of Buddhist art. Later, drive to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city, to visit the colossal Tashilhunpo Monastery.
- Significance: Founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, this is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. It remains a major center of Gelugpa scholarship and houses a magnificent 26-meter-high statue of the Maitreya Buddha (Future Buddha). Overnight in Shigatse.
Enjoy a scenic drive back to Lhasa along the fertile valley of the Yarlung Tsangpo River (Brahmaputra). This day offers a chance to reflect on the profound experiences of the past days while enjoying the peaceful Tibetan countryside. Overnight in Lhasa.
Drive to Ganden Monastery, perched dramatically on a mountain ridge. Founded by Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school, it is one of the most important monasteries in Tibet. For those with the energy and inclination, an optional, moderate kora (pilgrimage path) hike of 2-3 hours offers stunning views of the surrounding plateau and the Kyi-chu valley. This is a wonderful way to physically engage in a walking meditation. Return to Lhasa in the late afternoon. Overnight in Lhasa.
This day is entirely free for your own spiritual practice and personal pilgrimage. You may wish to:
- Make butter lamp offerings at the Jokhang Temple.
- Perform additional prostrations or kora around the Barkhor.
- Spend quiet time for reflection, journaling, or personal prayers in a peaceful corner of a monastery.
- Visit a local nunnery or less-frequented temple. Overnight in Lhasa.
After a final morning in Lhasa, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 14: UNESCO Heritage Tour – Boudhanath, Patan & Kumari Blessing
Today you will explore Kathmandu's UNESCO World Heritage Sites with a spiritual focus .
- Morning: Return to the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist sites in the world. Walk the Kora (circular path) while spinning prayer wheels and absorbing the tranquil atmosphere .
- Afternoon: Visit Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing the architectural brilliance of Newar culture. Explore the Patan Museum and the Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna Mahavihar) .
- Late Afternoon: Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square to see the residence of the Living Goddess Kumari, a unique and sacred tradition found only in Nepal. Receive her blessing if she appears at the windowÂ
